Apple ist, aufgrund der großen Popularität, derzeit ein beliebtes Ziel für Greenpeace. Nach der Aktion Green my Apple, bei der Greenpeace darauf aufmerksam gemacht hat, dass Apple an der letzten Position im Ranking des Umweltverhaltens der größten Computer- und Handyhersteller platziert ist, fordert Greenpeace nun ein "sauberes" iPhone von Apple.
Als gute Beispiele erwähnt Greenpeace in seiner Erklärung Nokia, Sony Ericsson und Motorola, da sie die schlimmsten Chemikalien schon entfernt haben und weitere giftige Chemikalien in der Zukunft entfernen wollen:

Like everyone else we don't know what's in the iPhone yet. It debuts June 29th. But we already know how green a phone can be. Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola have both removed some of the worst chemicals from their phones and identified extra toxic chemicals they intend to remove in the future -- even beyond the minimal legal requirements.

Nokia and Sony Ericsson have a global take-back policy for their phones and accept their responsibility to reuse and recycle the phones they manufacture. That saves resources and helps prevent old phones ending up as e-waste dumped in Asia.

Nicht nur auf Giftstoffe soll Apple bei der iPhone-Produktion verzichten, auch eine auswechselbare Batterie verlangt Greenpeace für das iPhone, damit bei defekten Batterien nicht gleich das ganze Gerät ausgetauscht werden muss.

Auf die Green my Apple-Aktion hat Steve Jobs/Apple ja reagiert, mal schauen was sich beim Thema Green my iPhone ergibt.
